Molly Scherr Studio Policies effective September 1, 2024
Thank you for choosing me as your family’s piano teacher! In order to ensure that your child gets the most effective and creative teaching possible, I have established the following policies:
Tuition and Attendance
Over the course of the academic year, tuition for 45 minute lessons is $160 per month and 30 minute lessons are $107 per month. You will receive an invoice by the 25th of the previous month to be paid by the 1st of the new month. Tuition will be paid automatically via credit card on file. You will receive an email receipt when it is charged each month. Your tuition pays for me to be present to teach your child (through either individual or group lessons) for 33 weeks of the academic year (Sept 1, 2024- May 31st 2025). Summer lessons are paid individually. Tuition is based on private lessons, group workshops, the expenses of piano tuning, continuing education, and music memberships.
For lessons in homes, an additional $30 per month per family will be added.
If your child has to miss a lesson, he/she will simply miss the benefit of that lesson - there will be no make up or refund of the lesson. Remember your tuition pays far more than just the lesson for your child. There are 3 options in the case of a missed lesson: An online lesson may be given during the lesson time instead. You can use that time slot to discuss progress in lessons with me. The 3rd option is for you to create a video or audio recording of your child playing her or his pieces that week, send it to me, and then I will record a video with feedback and send it back.
If I have to miss a lesson over the course of the academic year, there will be 1 time in which there will be no makeup. After that missed lesson (if it does occur), if I have to miss any more lessons, during your child’s time slot, there will either be an online lesson or we will do a video exchange that week.
Punctuality
Lessons will finish at the scheduled time, no matter when they start. If it is your lesson time, please knock on the door.
Annual Fee
An annual registration/materials fee of $45 will be charged per student to be paid at the time of registration in August. Families with 2 students will be charged $65 total. Families with 3 students will be charged $85 total. Included are all books, downloaded sheet music, materials, and recital fees for the year.
Termination of lessons
If for any reason, you decide to stop lessons, a 30 day notice is required.
Social Media
Photos and videos of your child playing piano, including a recital group photo, may be taken and posted on my website or social media with no names included.
